Dr. Macalino, a proud Oakland native, has had a full-circle journey at Skyline High School (SHS), graduating in 2000 and later serving as an English teacher, assistant principal, and co-principal. She holds a master’s degree in education with a focus on the Filipinx-American curriculum and its impact on Fil-Am students, as well as a doctorate in educational leadership, where she concentrated on effective and sustainable collaborative practices at the secondary level. Outside of her work in the Oakland Unified School District, Dr. Macalino enjoys recording the podcast "Empowered Conversations with Elin and Christina" and coaching K-12 administrators in the Bay Area. In her free time, you might find her hunting for a first edition John Steinbeck book in a used bookstore, relaxing with a sci-fi novel at Jack London Square, or hitting golf balls at the driving range.
