NTI offers first and second year teachers professional development sessions, informational sessions, planning time, and spaces to connect with your new colleagues. Attendance at the New Teacher Institute is required for all teachers who are new to teaching.Attendance is strongly encouraged for experienced teachers who are new to OUSD or returning teachers who are entering their second year in the classroom.
Step 1: Register for the Event
Click on the purple "Register" button under ’Register to Attend’. This will take you through the initial step of registering for the event.
Use your OUSD email to register for this event if you have one. If you do not have an OUSD email yet, you can register using your personal email.
It is recommended to use the single-sign on option when registering, rather than creating a new password for the Sched website.
Step 2: Session Registration Our New Teacher Institute will offer sessions on creating strong classroom culture, learning your content and curriculum, credentialing, and more. CHECK BACK IN EARLY JUNE to build your schedule.

Natalya Wade is a former English and Ethnic Studies educator and school administrator. Having worked in K-12 education for over 10 years, she deeply believes that school communities have the potential to transform systemic trauma into opportunities for healing and growth. Natalya is proud to join an amazing team at The Teaching Well and shares their commitment to creating spaces that invite vulnerability, creativity, and wellness through the affirmation of our identities and collective legacies.
Prior to working in education, Natalya served as a senior paralegal in immigration law and represented immigrants in Asylum, U-visa, VAWA, and Deportation Defense cases. Natalya spends much of her free time with her husband, her 3 year old daughter, and their two huskies - anxiously awaiting a new addition to their family soon. Natalya was born and raised in the Huichin, Ohlone land of East Oakland and is proud to continue her ancestors' legacy of home ownership in this town.
