Hi! I’m Susan Keen, she/hers, and I’ve been teaching for 14 years - 8 at Oakland International High School where our focus and attention is serving our newcomer students - students from 20+ language backgrounds, often with limited or interrupted educations. In OEA, I’ve been elected to serve as a site Representative, which allows me to support educators directly and lift their voices and needs in our union. I also have served as Cluster Lead for District 1 schools, meaning that I work with Reps at 10 schools in Oakland to help connect members with support. Finally, I work with Carrie to help train our elected Reps to be knowledgeable and supportive.
